Hikes, Gorges and Sunsets. #IthacaSummers

My favourite thing about Ithaca is its greenery while it lasts, the beautiful gorges, and of course the unforgettable sunsets. Growing up in a city like Singapore, everything I mentioned above was a treat during the holidays. I don't think I ever paid any attention to the sun till I came to Ithaca. Its not that I haven't seen a more beautiful sunset before, I just haven't been able to appreciate a sunset like I was able to after coming here. I have fallen in love with this small town, and every little thing it has to offer. I love the fact that I take a 15 minute walk in the woods, and go swim in the gorges. Its these few things which come Winter I will miss the most. So I am reminiscing in all the beauty while the last few days of summer still remain.

Pictured is the Robert H. Treeman State Park and Second Dam. (Forgive the bad quality...at the time I only had my phone on me, but I am trying to change that and carry my camera around!)

Just a cheeky selfie after the swim.

At last the sunset.

In the end one thing is safe to conclude "Ithaca is GORGES!"

Long walks, seagulls and a wish upong a dandelion #IthacaSummers

The cold is back, and its starting to bother me more than ever because I feel like I just said hello to Summer only to just say goodbye so fast. As I sip hot tea, and bring out the sweaters I can't help but think of that day in August when everything was warm and sunny. The sky was a gorgeous blue and the sun shined straight on my face. I think back to that time more now than ever now, because even though Winter hasn't officially arrived the biting cold has made an appearance, and all I want is to go back to that warm sunny day, when everything was perfect. So I made a wish on a dandelion for Summer to last just a little longer, and lucky for me the memory of Summer will last me all throughout Winter. So I get lost in those memories of that late August date, and remember this...

Wishes upon Dandelions.

Long walks in the park.

Sitting by the Cayuga Lake.

Watching the Geese Swim.

Swinging on the swing, while I watched Seagulls fly.

And just appreciating all the beauty.

Breakfast at Waffle Frolic! #IthacaSummers

So I am going to start posting a series of posts with the hashtag #ithacasummers. Its basically everything I've been up to since I've been back in Ithaca, highlighting the beautiful summers here, or well whats left of it before the cold winds come and blow all the beautiful sunflowers away!

Labour day happened to be my best friend's birthday, so for breakfast we went to Waffle Frolic. Its one of her favourite places to eat, and I second her on the fact that these are some of the best waffles I have ever eaten in my entire life. Also whats really great about this local eatery is that its all organic, knowing that I am eating something that not only tastes amazing, but is also good for me makes me feel less guilty when drowning my waffles with organic locally produced maple syrup!

My friend got the regular buttermilk waffles with powdered sugar, and bananas on top. I on the other hand was a little brave and tried their buckwheat waffles, and asked for the Belgium chocolate chips and strawberry. I didn't complete drain my waffle with syrup, but I did have it. Waffles without maple syrup is like a bird without wings.

My waffles were somewhat healthy, but they tasted so so so AMAZING! Also the freshly squeezed orange juice was very refreshing. As you can tell by my face I was very satisfied with my waffles, and I was even happier when I saw the bill. I feel its pretty affordable for a once in awhile basis, and I can guarantee coming here for breakfast is going to be a once in a month deal for sure!

Just a look at the Mumbai sidewalks...

Ever since I have been back from Mumbai I have been actually able to use the sidewalks. You're going to be asking yourself aren't sidewalks for walking on? Hence the name sidewalks...I am not going to get into the nitty gritty details of how in Mumbai the term sidewalks doesn't even apply to their sidewalks. There is everything you can do on a sidewalk but walk...by everything I mean EVERYTHING! I drank coconut water, and even did some grocery shopping. YUP! GROCERY SHOPPING! Who would have thought right?! So here is a look at the colourful sidewalks mostly near where my grandma lives.

No it was not on the sidewalk...but sometimes you'll see the rickshaws driving on the sidewalks to clear away from the traffic.

So with all this stuff on the sidewalk where do the people walk? Ehh...I am still figuring that one out!
