As the Snow Melts...

I open the blinds and let the sun in for the first time in months. I look outside and the snow seems to have melted away, bit by bit it seems to be disappearing. I am waiting for that day when its finally all gone. Its not that I don't love snow, but I love green grass and warm weather more. This winter has been the warmest to me so far, its been very good to me in fact, but nonetheless its winter and even the warmest winter day is nothing but cold.

Last years winter was all about new things, and new beginnings. It was all about letting go, and renewing one self. But this winter was revisiting the old, but coming out fresher and newer then ever before. This winter was about letting my heart go, and let it work its own way out. For the first time the heart had no restrictions just an open field to feel what it had to feel. For the first time I felt more vulnerable, and cautious of who I was. It wasn't that the heart had never felt before, My heart had felt love, and pain in equal measures. But this new feelings was so new, it was unnatural and liberating. For the first time there was nothing major, there wasn't a major driving force to tear one apart. It was just a simple infatuation, one that lasted its course. In the end like any infatuation it was just childishness, and stupidity, but nonetheless terrifying. The feeling, THAT feeling I try to recall it, but it melts away faster than the snow. I supposed the heart is making way for Spring, for new experiences, and new flings.

This Winter is soon to ends its course. I can feel it, but nonetheless I need to deal with these last few days of cold before I bask in the sun, and enjoy the much waited months of warm and long summer days.

Beauty Hack: Tips for Healthy Hair!

Although Coconut oil has become the recent power food in the West, its been India's hidden secret for ages. I've grown up with using coconut oil for my skin, and hair literally since I was born, because that's what babies in India are massaged with. NO JOKE! Now that one of our secrets is out, I thought I would pass down a very good hair tip that was passed down from my mother to me.

The ingredients you'll need:

  • Coconut oil
  • Plain Yogurt
  • 1 whole egg

  1.  Heat 1 table spoon of solid coconut oil in a pan, or you can microwave it. (This depends on the amount of hair you have. I have short, and fairly thin hair so this amount is perfect for me, but if you have longer and thicker hair then you should definitely use more, you really have to eye this.)
  2. Massage the oil onto your hair, and leave it over night or for an extended period of time (I like to leave it on for at minimum 4-5 hours).
  3. In a bowl crack one egg, and mix it with two table spoons of plain yogurt. You can also add aloe vera to this mixture for extra benefits. Something to also note is that you can use only the egg white if you don't like the smell of egg, but I usually use the whole egg because the yolk has its own benefits, and after you wash your hair out the smell doesn't stay.
  4. Massage this mixture into your hair, and leave it for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse out your hair, and then shampoo and condition as usual (good thing to note is that you don't need to use too much conditioner because the mask you applied in itself is a great conditioner).
  6. Let you hair air dry, and walla you have amazingly beautiful hair!
I do this once a month, but I recommend that you apply oil to your hair weekly especially in the winter season, or if you have dyed you hair. Its the single best solution ever, so give it a try if you already haven't!

Green Smoothie: My New Haven!

The greatest pinterest discovery I made this year were Green Smoothies. Not only are they easy to make, but they do great stuff for your body and skin, on top of it they taste absolutely amazing. I tried out a variation, and I finally put together my own green smoothie, and I thought I would share it with you!

  • 1/2 banana
  • 3-4  strawberries
  • 1 cup or a handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 tablespoons low fat plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of flax seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon of honey
How to make it:

Literally all you go is put it all into the mixer.

Then mix away!

I agree its not the most appetizing looking drink, but don't go on the looks, and trust me it tastes unimaginably amazing, and just works like magic for weight loss!

I feel very vulnerable yet secure when I am around tall buildings, loud noises, and a ton of people. I don't feel lost in the crowds, yet I do. I don't even know how to make sense of it, or put it in words. I guess that's what the city does to me every time...It leaves me speechless. I remember my first encounter, it felt almost as if it was a fairy tale. I thought its charm would fade, but surprisingly, every encounter after that would be just as exciting as the first one. I wouldn't say that NYC is my favorite city in the world, NO! But there is something in the air that has left me addicted, and keeps bringing me back. Maybe its just an infatuation for a while, but maybe it might turn into something more...
